Wish list

My Birthday is in a few weeks, and instead of dropping hints to Joe, or even buying the actual things I’d want; I thought I’d have a little fun gifting to myself here.  We just had x-mas, completed a basement & bathroom renovation, and I’d rather not be spending money on these.  This way it’s kind of like when the kids play pretend. They pretend that they are monster trucks, or ninja’s (I was going to say having tea… but, I have boys… we don’t have tea).

Thus, I bring you my birthday wish list:

1. Iphonecase

Otter Box Case

I thought of this first.  I think it’s because my old case cracked, and honestly with 3 kids and my slippery fingers, it seems less of a want and more of a need. I like it in Pink and Yellow and Orange… But the one above is mostly my style. :) . ****seriously, 2 min after I published this post, I spilled my Cheerios and milk all over my phone…. Such a Klutz!

2.bag

Coach Back Pack

This is truly frivolous.  I admit that fully, yet, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t browsing and ooogling it.  Yet, I’d rather go to the outlet then pay full price for it. I can’t swallow that much on a purse. ***Update, just got an invite from Coach Factory… adorable substitutes for $130 or less.  Still to much, but better. :)

3.screenprotector

Ipad-mini screen cover

This also is more practical.  At $7.95, I think it’s a good idea.

4.boots

The Boots

I have cankles, but I want a pair of these made for me.  They aren’t a need, but a want. One that I don’t plan to indulge in anytime soon…. :)

5.mammaria's olive garden

Mama Maria’s, Hudson, WI

Olive Garden

To go to either of these, for dinner, with my husband.  Then to see a movie, or play, or have coffee.  Just a date :)

7. Last but not least…..To belong here and not pay the fee’s :)

YMCA

YMCA

I know spring is so.close, but I’m itching to get working out more, and I love the Y>

Sadly, and maybe selfishly, I could have added new make-up, a mani/pedi, massage and facial, and many many more.  :)

So, that’s it.  My b-day wish list.  Some are practical, others not-so-much.  That’s the point of a birthday isn’t it.  To have fun, indulge and dream :)

What’s the best birthday gift you’ve had?

Happy 4th Birthday LUKE!!!

Dear Luke,

Please forgive how very late this post is.  We were renovating, taking vacation, and ill.  I’m so sorry and I love you so much!!!

F O U R

You are:

Silly.  You laugh all the time.  You are always making us laugh

Tender. You care about others, and their feelings

Tough. Probably playing rougher then you intend with Max, and almost going toe to toe with Jack.

Sweet. You are always telling us you love us, how wonderful the day is, and how much you love others

You love:

Angry birds, electronics, music, and dancing.

Spaghetti, cheese, applesauce, ice cream

Your brothers, friends and cousins, everyone.  You are always calling anyone nearest you that they are your best friend. :)

Deeply Belated Birthday Wishes

Dear Max,

You birthday was over a month ago and I’m just now posting about it.  I’m very sorry, I was busy playing with you :)

We decided to have 2 parties to celebrate Mr. Max, and it being summer, we planned to use the pool.  But first, we decided to make him and Elmo cake.  If you are new here, you need to look here, and here, and here, and even here, to see past cakes we have done.

Here is Max’s cake.

And another view…..

And while I feel a bit guilty calling it cake, it was fun and cool to make.  Elmo is made primarily out of Rice krispies treats.  His eyes and nose are marsmellows, and the cake he holds is actual cake.  The hardest part of this cake, was getting the frosting that red.  But it was a big hit in our house.

Here are a few of Max with his cake, and checking out his candle.

So excited in the photo above.  I think he was singing to himself.

Giving the cake a lovely squeeze..

And below, with a frosting goatee!

He was lucky to get everything on “his” wish list.

Like books.

Shoes

and even a Swing!!! plus so much more.

Even better then all of this was that Max’s guest continued our tradition of bring food for the food shelf.

Happy (very belated) Birthday Little Sir!!!! We love you SO much.

Birthday tradition

A tradition in our home for the boy’s birthdays, is to ask guests of their parties to bring a donation of a non-perishable food item to be given to our local church (which then goes to the food shelf)  We have also once given it to boy scouts who came to the door during Jack’s 5th birthday party.  Joe and I feel that this is a good way to show the boys how to give back in a small way.

Here is Max with his birthday donations from our wonderful family and friends.

We also will be starting a tradition with Jack this year, that after his birthday, because he will have new toys, he will go through and pick out toys that can be donated to needy kids.

We feel that this is a way to again cut out some of the consumerism in the world today, and allow them a small glimpse into how very blessed we are.

Here’s Max as well with the donation and our priest Fr. Rick.  I also have one of Max just engrossed with Fr. Rick; look at him and focusing on him rather then the camera.  So sweet.

Tukey

No, I didn’t mean TuRkey…. I Mean’t you… My Lukey Tukey.

You are 3.

I remember when you were this little

Your name means light, and it fits you to a T.

You light up the house with your adorable smile.

You tell everyone that your name is “Wookey” or “Tukey” or “Wookey Tukey” or sometimes “Luke”

You love your brothers.  S.O. M.U.C.H

You love your Daddy and & I just as much.

You love to dance….. and you are known for your Tushie Dance.  You will perform it anywhere, & sing “Shake your poochie” (not sure where the word “poochie” came from..ahem…Joe)

Your current largest fear is hilarious to your Daddy and I.  You are terrified of the song “The Little Drummer Boy”. It’s adorable, but very real to you, and we hope for it to pass soon.

You drink more milk then most kids I know. Like a gallon every 4 days. Lord help us when your older.

You are a half shoe size smaller then your older brother, 3 lbs lighter, & 2 inches shorter.

You are almost as strong as he, but luckily for him, he’s faster (for now)

You love cheese.  Parmesean cheese on EVERYTHING.

You like books, TRAINS, sharks, legos, and anything your older brother likes.

You love to crawl into your little brothers bed and play with him (and his crib toys)

As of Dec. 11th you have only gone pee on the toilet 3 times (but we hope)

You have a mind of your own, and can rarely be bribed to do anything (see above)

You can polish off a mini-blizzard before we can drive home from the drive thru (and we only live 4 miles away)

You love airplanes, ambulances, and any toy that makes noise like those do.

You love to feed the dogs and will tell us they have taken your food even if you’ve fed them.

A funny story about this is that you once said “Chloe took my food Mom.”

Your brother Jack then said “Mom, he’s lying, he gave it to her.”

I then replied “Jack, Luke doesn’t know what lying is, it’s no big deal.”

to which you said “I know what a Lion is, ROAR”

You will do anything to make someone laugh.

You like your owies kissed, and will kiss ours if need be.

You are sensitive, extremely loving, kind and just a beautiful soul. As beautiful as your blue eyes sweet boy….

You make our family better because we have you.

You have captured our hearts, we are forever betterfor having you in our little family

Happy 3rd birthday Our sweet Luke.  We Love you to the moon and back.

5

I can’t believe it.

He’s 5 years old.

F I V E

Someone please hold me.

I waiver between wanting to cry, and filling with elation at the person he’s becoming.

(His school photo, in plastic, taken with a cell phone

He’s strong.  Mentally, and physically.

He’s smart.

He knows how to negotiate everything :)

He loves music, and can dance very well.

He loves to make us laugh.

(showing me his Santa impression)

He’s figured out Air Quotes, and uses them when he wants to get a smile out of us.

He plays hockey, has played soccer, and is swimming well too.

He loves sports.  Even the Vikings losing streak hasn’t gotten him down.

(Being a goof too)

He loves being a big brother, and it’s amazingly good at it.

He’s completed a map of the world, featuring each of the continents, as well as a map of North America.

He’s got the cutest lil’ tushie I’ve ever seen.

His eyes give me pause at their depth & perspective.

His smile lights up my life.

He is like me in so many ways, and for this I worry for him, and empathize too.

He is my baby, even though he’s now 5.

He blessed our lives beyond belief by his very existence, and we just feel lucky that he’s healthy we get to call him our son.

Jack Jack, Monkey, Handsome, Sweet Boy…..

Daddy and I love you so very much.  Happy, Happy Birthday to our big boy. You make us very proud and happy.  We hope your day is just as special as you are!!

Love,

Daddy & Mommy.

can it be

Can it be that tomorrow my first born will be 5?

That we will be making a life change as of Friday?

That I haven’t blogged in forever due to lack of energy, and lack of time

it all will be.

But for now, I will be snugglling my (almost) 5 yr old and hoing time stops for a while.
